The History of Foundation Therapy Services
Our Story
Foundation Therapy Services was created from a place of love, perseverance, and belief in what’s possible.
Our founder, Angela Matsen, M.S., CCC-SLP, has been a Speech-Language Pathologist for more than 27 years. Her inspiration comes from her sister, Carey.
In the mid 1970’s Carey was born with microcephaly, a condition that affects brain development. At birth, doctors said she would never walk, talk, or learn—and suggested she be placed in an institution. But her family believed in her potential and chose a different path.
With the right support, Carey grew into a vibrant, active woman. Today, she blew through all those limitations placed on her at birth. She lights up every room with her humor. She loves musicals, dances, and bowls in a league she takes very seriously. Carey is proof of what can happen when people are supported, included, and given the chance to shine.
Angela founded Foundation Therapy Services to carry forward that belief: every person deserves dignity, opportunity, and the tools to thrive. Carey’s journey is a constant reminder of why this work matters—because every life has potential, and every voice deserves to be heard.
